Former African Union Commission Chair Dr. Nkosazana Clarice Dlamini-Zuma has urged African leaders to use the wealth of resources the continent possesses for the good of their people.
"I'm not sure how many days of sunshine they have in Europe, but we have at least over 300 here. We have to seize that opportunity. Our rivers are here; we have to use them. Additionally, we must take use of the diversity of water and oil that we are gifted with, she said.
At the BOMA of Africa event, which was hosted on the sidelines of the Africa Union's Mid-Year Coordinating Meeting last Saturday in Accra by AUDA-NEPAD and AfroChampions, Dlamini-Zuma spoke on the subject of "Why the world needs a dynamic Africa and what role must each African Play to achieve this goal."
The 2024 BOMA of Africa event, with the subject "From the Africa We Want to the Africa We Build," sought to honor the bold concepts and initiatives that are advancing Africa.
Debates, discussions, and the presentation of innovative initiatives that represent significant milestones in African integration and development were all part of this celebration of innovation and solidarity.

"Investors alone cannot shape our thoughts or our course toward Agenda 2063; otherwise, we would become colonized. Dr. Dlamini-Zuma stated, "It has to be based on what we can and want to do.
"We must construct our own railroads. We must construct our own vehicles. Road construction is necessary. We ought to be able to construct our own lakes eventually. Perhaps not just now. One bite at a time, we have to tackle this massive elephant.

The 2nd Sankore Lecture, the first Sankore Awards, and displaying ground-breaking initiatives like Energize Africa, the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa, and the Home-Grown Solutions Accelerator were among the major highlights of BOMA 2024. These programs demonstrate a dedication to promoting resilience, socioeconomic growth, and regional integration throughout the continent.
As the current Chancellor of the University of Limpopo and a lifelong member of the African National Congress, Dr. Dlamini-Zuma counseled Africans to remember their distinct identity rather than allowing colonization and enslavement to define them.
"We were a tremendously vibrant people and continent before we were colonized. She pointed out that even Europeans admit that Africa was a dynamic continent.

Dr. Dlamini-Zuma expressed dissatisfaction and concern over Africa's large youthful population turning it into a labor pool for the rest of the globe. Africans, she argued, should travel voluntarily rather than out of need.
She urged African leaders to make their nations' conditions better in order to stop their people from fleeing their nations out of desperation and dissatisfaction. "If people relocate, it should be a conscious decision rather than a result of desperation, which is the case in the present. Additionally, she stated, "I frequently hear complaints about how hard it is to go around in African countries.
